The Bridge to Total Freedom: The Classification and Gradation Chart shows the gradient path an individual takes to reach higher states of awareness, achieved through the two central practices of the Scientology religion. The left side lays out the training route to spiritual freedom, which is attained through study of Scientology Scripture. The right side lays out the auditing route, which is achieved with the help of a minister of Scientology. | |
The metaphor which Scientologists use to describe their spiritual progress is that of a Bridge, taking one across the chasm of entrapment in the physical universe to higher states of existence—from unknowingness to revelation. This exact, gradient path to salvation is depicted graphically and is even more frequently used as a descriptive term.
The Scripture of the religion, when followed exactly, offers a route of continually increasing awareness. Thus, while each of the symbols described above represents some aspect of the Scripture, it is the symbol of the Bridge which represents the path that they offer to a better world.
